Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones Maata uses, and how you can control them.

Last updated: April 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website or use a web application. They allow the service to recognise your device across sessions and store certain preferences or information about your activity.

Similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixel tags may function in a comparable way and are covered by this policy.

2. How Maata Uses Cookies

Maata uses cookies for the following purposes:

Essential cookies

These are required for the platform to function. They enable authentication, session management, and security features. Without them, you cannot log in or use the platform. These cookies cannot be disabled.

  • Session token, to keep you logged in during a session
  • CSRF token, to protect against cross-site request forgery attacks
  • Load balancing cookies, to route your requests to the correct server

Functional cookies

These remember your preferences and settings to improve your experience. They are not required for core functionality but are enabled by default.

  • UI preferences such as sidebar state or theme selection
  • Last-visited section or document, for quicker navigation on return

Analytics cookies

These help us understand how the platform is being used so we can improve it. Data collected is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

  • Page views and navigation paths
  • Feature usage frequency
  • Session duration and error rates

We use self-hosted analytics tools where possible to minimise data sharing with third parties.

Third-party cookies

Some features of the platform may load content from third-party services. These services may set their own cookies subject to their own privacy policies. We limit third-party integrations to those necessary for the platform to function.

3. Cookie Durations

Cookies on Maata are either:

  • Session cookies: deleted automatically when you close your browser
  • Persistent cookies: remain on your device for a defined period, typically between 7 and 90 days depending on purpose

4. Your Choices

You can control cookies in the following ways:

Browser settings: All modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies. Refer to your browser's documentation for instructions. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in to Maata.

Platform preferences: For non-essential cookies, you can update your preferences in your account settings under Privacy.

Opt-out of analytics: You can disable analytics tracking in your account settings at any time without affecting your ability to use the platform.

5. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal to websites. Maata currently does not alter its data practices in response to Do Not Track signals, but we respect your right to manage tracking through the controls described above.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we introduce new features or change our use of cookies. The date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. We will notify you of significant changes via the platform.
